Cincinnati's Cookin! Cookbook
This cookbook from Joy Pierson has over 100 recipes from Cincinnati Kitchens to share with your family and friends!

Joy grew up on the west side of Cincinnati in a large Catholic family with 14 siblings.  She left for college and lived in 6 urban cities throughout the United States, where she was a regular farmers’ market shopper in each city.  Twelve years ago, Joy returned to Cincinnati and loves Cincinnati's treasured Findlay Market.  She also loves the local farmers' markets popping up all over Greater Cincinnati and includes a list of the 2011 locations and times in the book.

Joy brings together 133 favorite recipes from family, friends, Findlay Market vendors, and her own kitchen. She loves to cook and bake and loves to share the food with neighbors, family, friends, co-workers, Findlay Market vendors and even strangers.

You’ll find Cincinnati favorites, like Goetta, Cincinnati Style Chili and Hanky Pankies, as well as a twist on old favorites, like Skyline Chili Lasagna, Vegan Cincinnati Style Chili and Oktoberfest Goetta “Rueben” Dip.  Cincinnati’s Cookin! has a great variety of recipes – including breads and coffee cakes, main dishes, starters, soups, salads, sides, sweets, and a bonus miscellaneous section, too. You’ll find many vegetarian recipes, recipes for the grill, crock pot-friendly recipes and more.

This cookbook offers Joy’s tips on shopping at Findlay Market as well as recommended vendors for some recipes. She shares personal stories with each recipe and has a Facebook page for comments, suggestions and questions.

Feedback from Cousin Joe Metz, top row, far left in photo:

"Joy it was great seeing you yesterday & picking up a copy of your cookbook. It's been fun reading the anecdotes about the various recipes. There are a number of them that are long familiar dishes.

I did an interview with Dad a few years ago when StoryCorps was in town. He mentioned that he would sell cakes that Grandma made around the neighborhood.

So while that wasn't her primary source of income, she seems to have augmented the
household income with making those delicious baked goods for others.

Great job, Joy! "
